Our Mission

The heart of the men’s ministry is discipleship. True discipleship is total devotion to God with one’s life. We desire to:

  • Encourage men to grow in an intimate relationship with God our Father.
  • Learn to love your wife like Jesus loves the Church.
  • Learn to personally teach & raise our children with the Word of God.

Our Core Verses

Matthew 16:24-25: Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.”

Mark 8:34-35: When He had called the people to Himself, with His disciples also, He said to them, “Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it.”

Luke 9:23-24: Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it.”

Our Ministry

Men’s Prayer Meeting: Come and talk about what God’s doing in our lives and enjoy some food as we approach God through prayer.

Men’s Book Club: The men’s book club started with the intent of encouraging one another to dig more deeply into spiritual truths, as well as to discuss contemporary issues and ideas within the context of a Christian world view. Our desire is to integrate faith, learning, and thinking to provide spiritual support for one another. We began in 2006, and have been reading about one book per every two months. Some of the books that we have read include the following: Darwin on Trial, Wild at Heart, Mere Christianity, Blue Like Jazz, The Pursuit of God, No Perfect People allowed, What’s So Great About Christianity, The Way of the Master, The Abolition of Man, Forgotten God, Screwtape Letters, Crazy Love, Pilgrim’s Progress, and Fresh Encounter.

Men in Action: Serving in the community helping the elderly, poor, widows & homeless, construction projects, helping with adoption of people groups – apartments, mission trips, etc.

  • Group construction project uniting all men of the church to bless elderly members in service project.
  • Bus Ministry transporting people to Sunday School/Contemporary Service.

Men in Adventure: Fellowship and Outreach opportunities participating in activities such as fishing charter, archery at the Benton Bowmen, hiking, camping, etc.

Weekly Schedule

  • Men’s prayer meeting meets in Room 4 every Friday morning at 8am.
  • The men’s book club meets on the first Monday night of each month at Shari’s Restaurant. We start at 8:30pm and typically end at 10pm.

Discipleship Groups

What would happen to the church of Jesus Christ if a majority of those who claim to follow Christ were nurtured to maturity through intimate, accountable relationships centered on the essentials of God’s Word? Self-initiating, reproducing disciples of Jesus would be the result. Discipleship Essentials is specifically designed to implement small, reproducible discipleship units.

“Jesus focused instead on the few who believed Him when He said radical things.”
David Platt

“Jesus had a big enough vision to think small. Discipleship Essentials is designed to help us influence others as Jesus did – by investing in a few.”
Greg Ogden
